THE QUESTION

How do we design an impactful logo and brand identity for a non-profit?

THE CONTEXT

Public Architecture, a San Francisco-based nonprofit, identifies and solves practical problems of human interaction in the built environment. It acts as a catalyst for public discourse through education, advocacy, and the design of public spaces and amenities. Its flagship program, 1+ connects nonprofits with pro bono architecture and design services. The first and largest pro bono service network within the architecture and design professions, 1+ challenges the design community worldwide to dedicate one percent or more of working hours to pro bono service.

DIG was tasked with designing the logos for Public Architecture and 1+ and building a brand identity with elasticity to serve different audiences, globally.

THE UNLOCK

Create an impactful logo that focused first on the community (public) aspect of the service they provide but also referenced the field of design and architecture.

THE RESULT

The logo we created served as a bold declaration of involvement for architects and designers and a badge of pride for clients. As they expanded globally, we developed brand identity materials for both Public Architecture and 1+.
